Photo Spread: June 18, 2008 game

With plenty of sun and a temperature of about 70 degrees, it was perfect weather to play softball this night. And perfect for taking pictures. So of course Chuck forgets to switch out his old batteries for new ones. So they run out of juice after about halfway through the game. It figures.
  • INNING-BY-INNING REPORT:
  • First inning: Opposite team scored no runs. Nate and Julie bring us two runs, leaving the first inning with the score 0-2.
  • Second inning: With Nate making two great catches, we get the other team out quickly, leaving them without any runs once again. Russ' then scores five more runs, thanks to Mike, Courtney, Jessica, Kyle and Rebecki. We exit the second inning with a score of 0-7.
  • Third inning: Once again we shut the other team out from scoring, only to have Julie and Mike further our lead, upping the score, 0-9.
  • Fourth inning: The other team scored one point with this runner who was so incredibly fast. We restored balance by hitting one point of our own, thanks to Jason. The score was 1-10.
  • Fifth inning: The home team didn't get any runs, thanks in part to an incredible catch on Mike's part, where he actually somersaulted over himself. Russ' was barely up to bat when Julie hit a run, making the score 1-11. According to mercy rules, Russ' had won. So with an incomplete fifth inning, and with only 45 minutes of game time, Russ' exits the stage with another win under it's belt.
Jessica gets ready to catch.

Mike Johnson gets ready before the game in his own special way.

Look! SUNLIGHT! We are playing IN THE SUN!
It is amazing.

GUESSING GAME: Who is running in the blue jeans?
HINT: If you have trouble figuring it out, you are closer to the answer.
Previous week's answer: Jessica Squires

Rebecki takes her turn at bat. Incidentially, she is a psychic.
The night before, at Tuesday night bowling, she told me, "we're going to make our record 6-1." And we did!

Number twenty-five gets ready to score us another run.

...And some people just don't take the game that seriously.

John reacts to commentary from the peanut gallery.

Kelli, with Kelli's car in the background!

Carleen took the week off, so Leigh filled in for this week.

Mike takes a breather after deciding whether to stay at second,
or keep on running to third.

Nate looks on with a steely determination.

Amy was among the smart players who wore sunglasses that night.

Jessica gets ready to score us a run.

John looks around in-between pitches.

Leigh gets ready to make another hit.

Mike runs back to position, following something.

Hit 'em high, hit 'em long.

Go, Julie, go!
This is actually the "beginning of the end," as she makes our final run.

I'm not as stealthy as I thought. Alyssa and Emily are posing!
And here I thought this would be a candid photo... :)

Good game! They were a fun team to play.
(Or, at least, a fun team to listen to from the dugout.)

Next weeks game is at 9:30 p.m. EDT! So drink plenty of coffee or iced tea and get ready to play until 10:30. That, with a 25+minute drive home for most, means it won't be until at least 11 until we're home. YIKES.
